Services for Senior Citizens

There are many seniors who live alone. Their children are mostly not living with them because they are working outstation or even overseas. There are also single seniors who never married. Our objective is to reach out to those who are lonely and also destitute.

Day : Every Monday

Time : 10.00am to 12.00pm

Venue : Taiping Wesley Methodist Church

31, Jalan Temenggong, 34000 Taiping

It has been 9 years since we started this partnership with Taiping Wesley Methodist Church for the senior's Fellowship. Almost 30 seniors come to this weekly fellowship. We thank God for our coordinators and volunteers who faithfully serve in this ministry. There are Aunty Polly, Aunty Cheng Hiong, Aunty Swee Lee, Mrs. Grace Saw, Mrs. Looi Sow Sew (who faithfully provide transport for few seniors to this fellowship), Mr. Chong (from Taiping Gospel Hall) and Mr. Khoo who plays the guitar. We also thank Dr. Lim Swee Hock, our medical advisor for seniors. At this weekly fellowship we have singing gospel songs and oldies, various topics shared by speakers or some handicraft, and a simple meal. Sometimes we have outings like last year the seniors went to Penang and also joined the Penang Wesley Senior's Fellowship. Our senior's fellowship was also invited for gatherings by Taiping Wesley Methodist Senior's Fellowship. We hope PPKT senior's fellowship can extend to day center service for seniors in the whole of Taiping town.

Home visits provide services to those seniors in need. Home visits also play an important role in encouraging and supporting them as they are coping with their old age. Now the social welfare department gives allowances of RM 300.00 to the seniors who are poor. We are looking forward to helping the seniors to apply for this allowance.
